Pastor at Living Faith Church in TradeMore Complex in Abuja, Leye Ige, has underscored that lifelong learning education is not just for transfer of knowledge, but that it is a foundation for moulding and shaping of lives and destinies.
Speaking at the Excellent Way Academy Prize Giving Day, on the Theme: Celebrating Excellence, Shaping the Future, said the theme not reflects school academic achievement, but also diligence, discipline, resilience and character.
The Pastor who was represented by Engr. Patricks Oghuma, also an Assistant Pastor at the Chapel and Deputy Director in Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, urged the students to develop good character, pursue competence through lifelong learning.
The auspicious event brought together the school leadership, staff, parents, guardians, guests, and students who came to honor academic achievement, character development, and resilience.
Ige, while delving on the philosophical realm deploying Aristotle’s words, said – We are what we repeatedly do, adding that excellence, is not an act but a habit.
He reinforced that the biblical example of Daniel, in the book of Daniel, reminds students that true excellence begins within, long before it is recognized publicly.
He also underscored that education equips the mind, but character directs its use, warning that intelligence without integrity is dangerous, and success without character is fragile.
He charged the students to: “Develop character — as it outlasts certificates. Pursue competence — through lifelong learning.
“Show compassion — lifting others as they rise. He expressed gratitude to parents for modeling values at home and to teachers for shaping destinies that extend far beyond the classroom.”
On emerging technologies and future of education beyond the four walls, he said: “Students of Excellent Way Academy, the world you are stepping into is not the same world your parents studied in.
“Knowledge today is dynamic, digital, and global. To thrive, we must flip our educational system from memorizing facts to mastering skills — creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptability.
“The 21st century demands innovators, not imitators; problem‑solvers, not passive learners. Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and global connectivity are reshaping every field, and education must keep pace.
“Let us embrace project‑based learning, digital literacy, and lifelong curiosity. The classroom is no longer confined to four walls — it is the entire world. You are the pioneers of this transformation, and your courage to learn differently will define the future.”
While congratulating those that won awards, he urged them to wear their honors with humility, while those without awards were encouraged not to lose heart, as diligence always finds its reward.
The occasion came to a close with Proverbs 22:29: “Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will stand before kings.
”The ceremony reaffirmed Excellent Way Academy’s commitment to raising young men and women who are academically sound, morally upright, and prepared to shape a brighter future.
